a high-performance monofilament synthetic absorbable surgical suture manufactured from polyester poly-p-dioxanone. It is specially designed to provide consistent tensile strength retention and a predictable absorption profile, ensuring reliable wound support during extended healing periods.
Absorption of MESYNTH PDS® occurs through hydrolysis and is completed in approximately 180 days, making it ideal for procedures requiring long-term tissue approximation. The monofilament construction allows smooth tissue passage, reduces tissue drag, and minimizes the risk of infection.
The suture retains up to 50% of its tensile strength for 30 days, supporting wound healing where prolonged strength is critical. It is supplied sterile in aluminum foil packaging, with or without needle options, and is suitable for a wide range of general surgical applications.
